All though many of us have heard of a promise ring, most of us don't really know what do promise rings mean.

A promise ring is a symbol of a promise or commitment made by two people to each other.

Promise rings can be given for almost any type of promise made, but are given most often to girlfriends for engagements or promises of engagement.

A promise ring should not be given out lightly, and it's important that both persons know exactly what the intentions are behind the giving and accepting of a promise ring. This is to avoid certain misunderstandings that could be made with the recieval of a promise ring, as well as with the giving of one. A misunderstanding by either party could lead to altering of the entire significance or meaning of the promise ring.
